Films versus Movies

Occasionally he used her arty proclivities against her. There’s this new French film, he’d say casually. Great reviews in Now. Oh, it’s got subtitles. He said the word like it meant free Swiss chocolate. That was how he got her to see La Femme Nikita, which had an amazing body count for a wussy European film. That was...too violent, she said, coming out. Well, he countered, if there’d been more violent films, maybe Hitler wouldn’t have had to invade Poland! But rather than concede the point, she just blinked rapidly. He had begun to suspect she had a nervous tick.
