Kinds of Rapture

Different kinds of rapture, different kinds of meat. The weight of fork, the groove of blade awaiting blood: steak rapture lies in anticipation.
Then barbecue ribs. Schools of high thought go expounding on succulence and tactics and all the while…flesh is being held firm in flesh and bone of hands, sweet flesh falling sweetly back off its own bones. Barbecue ribs, a rapture of trust.
Skin spreading thin to go round, do you take this thigh – I do. Together, five bodies can consume one; so too can three. But not one, not all alone, for roasted chicken's rapture is communal.
