If you’re going to take this vegetarian thing seriously, it might be a good idea to do a bit of reading first; because even I know it’s not as simple as not eating meat—you’ve got to find something to make up for the meat, and then you’ve got to eat more of that something than you’d probably ever care to. So, yes, technically, sour cream and onion potato chips are a vegetable, and you might even get a tiny bit of protein from the coating, but if that’s all you’ve been eating, you dingbat, it’s no wonder you’re sick.

ReplyDeleteOh my... your girlfriend might not like being called a dingbat even if the eating patterns are off.

This prompt does require a funny reply, I think.
ReplyDeleteA spewing girlfriend crouched over a pillow might be just the thing.
Ha! My sentiments exactly... (thanks so much for the photo credit, by the way!)

ReplyDeleteYou are right! Eat more of the vegetables to fill the gap of meat not present in your diet, left .You won't grow fat though, and that's a great thing. My Australian daughter is a vegetarian. Fortunately she eats fish and eggs, so that makes cooking for her easier. Thanks for your post!

As a life long vegetarian I have seen way too many people who are similar the this fictional girlfriend. An Arkie's Musings
ReplyDeleteWhat a fascinating way to present this issue. Great photo too.
ReplyDeleteI love my veggies! Any food we eat should have some food value - packaged/highly processed foods are generally not so healthy.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want her breathing on me if that's all she eats! lol

Spewing Dingbats is my new favourite band.
ReplyDeleteWho knows what are in chips. I remember one make whose cheese and onion variety were not vegetarian yet the prawn were. A tasty melange of e numbers.
ReplyDeleteThere's a plethora of vegetarian cookbooks which use nuts, tofu, and many other sources of protein that your girlfriend will need in order to stay healthy. I'm glad you are concerned for her health, but you may want to refrain from calling her names for the sake of your relationship. Blessings!

Ahhhh Vegetarian! Perfect.
ReplyDeleteModeration in all things!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. A vegetarian (or vegan, in my case) diet requires some planning but I believe is well worth the reduction in suffering to our fellow beings. And, it can be very healthy too. Perhaps you could suggest this web site for your girlfriend. It's a great one: http://myvega.com/team/brendan-brazier/
ReplyDeleteIdealism seems great until it's put to practice. I like your poem and the picture is clever
ReplyDeleteI used to be a vegetarian and found that there were too few choices besides soy and beans for protein. Of course, this was in the 80s... I'm now seriously considering going back because there are more choices (and I know more as well).
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I hate is when people are veg or vegan and stare at me judgmentally when I have meat in my spaghetti sauce, etc. I say, get over it... I should know, I'm married to a pastor but I NEVER preach about the joys of it!! Anyway, thanks for the food for thought (Ba-dum-bum) and keep rocking! Amy
Funny take, and the picture of the human sushi is too. - Margy
