Sometime in Grade Six, Robert Riley and I took the subway to see The Sound of Music at the Eglinton theatre, but after opted for the long walk home, during which we concocted an elaborate story describing what we wanted our classmates to believe had really happened that afternoon.
We were going to tell everybody we’d each taken a date, knowing this would drive our nemesis, Michael Doran, into a pre-pubescent rage. Michael was interested in the same girl as Robert, and although I can’t remember how my fake date fit in, I’m sure it made sense at the time.
So cute that two boys would go see "The Sound of Music."
